About Our Organization
Oftentimes people with intellectual disabilities face social isolation and unemployment, not because of their inability to form friendships or perform job responsibilities, but because of their lack of opportunities. Best Buddies exists to end this isolation and loneliness. Best Buddies Massachusetts, with offices in two locations, Boston and Amherst, is one of only three states to have all six Best Buddies programs, including Best Buddies Middle Schools, Best Buddies High Schools, Best Buddies Colleges, Best Buddies Citizens, e-Buddies, and Best Buddies Jobs. We are proud to announce our newest chapters – Morse Middle School, Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, Chicopee High School, and Palmer High School. We are thrilled with our recent success but know that there is still work to be done. To date, we still have over 30 middle and high schools and over 300 adults with intellectual disabilities on a wait list for Best Buddies Programs. With your help, we hope to be able to reach more individuals with and without disabilities throughout the state by opening more school chapters, signing up hundreds more people with intellectual disabilities in our online friendship program, e-Buddies, partnering with Greater Boston area businesses to provide jobs to qualified people with intellectual disabilities and continue to bring the gift of friendship to people with and without intellectual disabilities throughout Massachusetts.
