Celebrate Best Buddies Month With Best Buddies Massachusetts!
March is Best Buddies Month and there are a number of ways you can get involved and support Best Buddies Massachusetts.
On March 3rd, 2010, chapters all over the state of Massachusetts and around the world will be taking the pledge to end the use of the R-word. Spread the Word to End the Word is an ongoing effort by Special Olympics, Best Buddies International and our supporters to raise the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the word "retard(ed)" and encourage people to pledge to stop using the R-word.
Local chapters here in MA have already begun planning events throughout the month of March; Oliver Ames High School, Brennan Middle School, and Medfield High School are hosting assemblies at their school while Suffolk University, Babson College, Maynard High School, Joyce Middle School, Harwich High School and Emerson College are all planning pledge events to encourage students at their school to stop using the R-word. The goal is to reach 100,000 pledges by 3/3/10, so get your school or workplace involved by taking the pledge now at www.r-word.org.
On March 6th, 2010, Best Buddies Massachusetts will be partnering up with the Special Olympics for the Passion Plunge! When you join our team (BBMA Plungers) a portion of your donation will benefit Best Buddies Massachusetts. Please visit www.passionplunge.org for more information about this great fundraiser and to join our team!
Join us on March 20, 2010 from 2-5pm for the Second Annual Friendship Relay. Dress up as your favorite super hero and spend the day walking the track at Hopkinton High School. Check out www.bestbuddiesma.org/fr to sign up your team and support Best Buddies programs throughout Massachusetts. |
