Best Buddies Massachusetts

With a complete reduction of state-sponsored funding in 2010, Best Buddies Massachusetts has become increasingly dependent upon the success of its many special events throughout the year.

Your continued support through joining us at these events makes a huge difference in our ability to provide top-notch programs to thousands of participants throughout Massachusetts.

In addition to attending these events, Best Buddies Massachusetts is actively looking for committee members to help plan the following upcoming events. Please find a brief description of the committee member responsibilities for each event below:

Evening of Opportunity:

The 3rd annual Evening of Opportunity Gala, hosted at the Seaport Hotel on October 6th, will highlight the continued success of our integrated employment program (Best Buddies Jobs).

We’re asking guests to join us for this special evening to enjoy complimentary appetizers, wine, a short program and live and silent auctions. Currently, we are seeking committee members to help us in our efforts to secure auction items and reach out to their networks to invite attendees. With your help, we’re confident this event will be a huge success.

For more information, or to express interest in joining the committee, please contact Craig Welton at (617) 778-0522 or via e-mail at CraigWelton@BestBuddies.org

The Fall Friendship Festival Committee:

We are looking forward to the fourth year of our partnership with Little Rascals Orchard of Harvard, Massachusetts for the Fall Friendship Festival.  This event celebrates the participants of our Middle School, High School and College friendship programs and offers the chapters a fun way to kickoff the year.

In addition to apple-picking, hay rides and carnival style attractions, Best Buddies Massachusetts is the beneficiary of all proceeds generated through the sale of apples and apple pies at the event!  With your help, we’re confident that we can provide a very fun opportunity for all of our participants while raising additional funds to support these very programs.

If you have an interest in finding out more about how you can help make the 4th annual Fall Friendship Festival the best year yet, please contact Kali Small at KaliSmall@bestbuddies.org.

Milton 5K Gobbler:

The Milton 5K Gobbler typically takes place on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Best Buddies Massachusetts is looking to recruit a Team Recruitment Chair and Logistics Chair for the event.

Committee Chairs will assist with planning for the six months leading up to the event. They will be expected to attend monthly committee conference calls to update the rest of the committee on their progress, as well as complete tasks specific to their role.

The Team Recruitment Chair will be responsible for recruiting corporate and community teams, planning a team captain kickoff, and assisting the teams in reaching their fundraising goals. The Logistics Chair will be responsible for day of event logistics including food, entertainment, volunteers and registration.

If you are interested in finding out more information about either volunteer position, please contact KaliSmall@bestbuddies.org.

Artistic Abilities:

The 5th Annual Artistic Abilities Exhibition and Silent Auction will be held at CityStage in Springfield on Thursday, October 21st. Presented by Baystate Health, Artistic Abilities is a unique and exciting evening community event that showcases the extraordinary talents of visual artists, musicians, and chefs with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities working together.

The event includes live entertainment, refreshments, and a charity auction to benefit our local programs in Western Massachusetts. This year, we are delighted to announce that the event will include a concert by locally-based and nationally-acclaimed band The Primate Fiasco!
