Richard at the Finish Line
by KALI SMALL
Best Buddies Massachusetts

On June 5th, Richard Berman crossed the finish line to complete the 20 mile bike ride at the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port.  He said that inside the clambake, “the food was good and I liked to concert.”

If anyone deserved to relax and have a good time at the post-ride party, it was Richard since he was extremely busy prior to the event.

He raised over $2140 through donations and fundraising events.  He even helped to get delicious meals donated for the Best Buddies staff who were in Boston the week before the big event.

Right before the bike ride, Richard had another huge milestone.  The Best Buddies Jobs program helped him find a new part-time job at Mercer, a human resource consulting firm, in Norwood, MA.

At his new job, Richard greets the Mercer employees and make sure they have their company ID with them.  If they do not, he is able to show them where they can sign in.

When asked about his new job, Richard says “It’s great.  The people are really friendly there.”  In addition to working at Mercer, Richard works at NewTV, the public access channel for Newton, MA.

When Richard is not working, he is an amazing Best Buddies Massachusetts supporter.  He has been on the BBMA Advisory Board for over 4 years and he is always the first to arrive at every board meeting.  He is also an e-Buddy and a Buddy Ambassador.
